When we are trapped within our difficulties, it feels like a cage around us. It traps us, yet also somehow the confines bring us safety and security, a way to cope when what is outside feels risky and uncertain.

We all need a safe place to retreat to, a place to take a deep breath and remind ourselves "We are ok! We can do this!" Whether that is a real place or a place in our minds matters little. Take your safe place with you. Practice going there often.

Keep moving onwards, once the butterfly emerges from it's cocoon it keeps moving forwards. It doesn't look back and try to become a caterpillar again.

Think of a dragon fly laid into stems, leaves or mud........suddenly without warning it sheds it's final skin, take their first breath of air, their wings unfold and they take flight.
